These girls who are students at First Baptist Academy in Powell, are TN state winners of the Tennessee History Day held this past spring. They won at school, then at the University of TN, then went on to win 1st place at Nashville.
In June we all went to Washington D.C. to compete in National History Day. Held at the University of MD.
These girls worked hard on their project, songs of Freedom. They demonstrated how different genres of music that we experience today have roots connected to antebellum slavery and African Americans that brought the unique styles of music to the South.
Even though the girls didn't place at national competition, they are still #1 to us all. Way to go girls.
