3 Million Miles
This is just a fun story because you just don't see this happen anymore. Keeping stuff!
In our "to-go", drive thru, recycled...one use-toss out world...we don't seem to keep stuff...like we used to. But don't tell that to Irvin Gordon...he's still hanging on to something he bought back in 1966...and he still uses it everyday! On June 30, 1966, Irvin bought his beloved Volvo P 1800- S....he paid $4,150 at the age of 25. Back then...that was a whole year's salary. And he is still driving it today! That red two-door Volvo is ready to turn over it's 3 million odometer reading.
The 72-year-old Gordon drives his Volvo everywhere. He has held the Guinness World Records mark for High Mileage Vehicle since 2002 and was the first person to hold that record.
His odometer doesn't have enough digits to display the actual mileage, but Gordon has tune-up records verifying it.
"I have had coffee in every state," "I am my own travel channel."
The avid driver believes in taking care of his car, and he doesn't let anyone else drive it
"That's why I bought my girls their own cars,
"Why would I want to get rid of it?" he asked. "Kind of like a good woman."
His license tag: MILNMILER
How high have you gotten in miles?
