Dole is recalling more than one thousand cases of bagged salad that could be contaminated with listeria.
The tainted greens were sold in Wal-Mart and Kroger stores in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, and were marked with a sell-by date of June 19th. Because it’s past the sell-by date, it’s unlikely any of the salad is still on store shelves. Still, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says it’s important for retailers to make sure there’s none sitting out by mistake or left in warehouse inventories. Consumers should also check to make sure it’s not sitting in their refrigerators.
Listeria symptoms include fever, aches, nausea and diarrhea.
