Teacher Ratings- Mid 2012

We are half way through the school year....so how do you think the year's going?  Well the data has been collected by School Officials....rating the NEW Teacher Evaluation System.   The rating is based on a 5 scale...with 5 being the TOP.  According to State Department of Education, the number of teachers getting a 5 rating varies from county to county.  Here are some of those results:

Clinton had the greatest number of teachers with a 5....46.6%

Most counties ended up with more teachers scoring a 3 rating...40-50% midrange.

When officials were asked why teachers didn't fare better....most said...if you had out a bunch of 5 ratings...then there's no room for growth.

keep in mind, the rating will ultimately determine whether they earn and keep tenure.

Already some teachers are questioning the process because it is too subjective.

Locally:  more counties with the most 5's:

Scott County. 34.2%

Sevier County. 30.4%

Hawkins County  26.8%

Blount County. 25.6%

AND AT THE BOTTOM:

Jefferson 11.0%

Hamblin County. 13.9%

Knox County. 13.5%

Sweetwater.  13.5 %
