Texting and Driving
LESSON LEARNED
You’ve heard us talk about texting and driving and how dangerous it can be.
The warnings have been told to so many drivers including 21 year-old Chance Bothe.
Bothe was on his way home near Houston when the accident occurred. Seconds after his text, he drove off a bridge, then a cliff, and landed in a ravine.
He suffered a broken neck, a crushed face, a fractured skull and traumatic brain injuries.
After 6 months he is now 80 percent recovered, Bothe has a message for anyone who texts while driving: "They just need to understand, don’t do it. It’s not worth losing your life."
Here’s what makes this story so crazy.
Just before the crash, he had just finished texting, "I need to stop texting because I could die in a car accident". Moments later when he drove off a cliff.
Bothe’s father said his son’s injuries were so bad that they need to ‘Call the funeral home. He’ll never make it,’”. “We lost him three times. They brought him back. He coded three times.”
Bothe’s father said he believes teens, especially those just starting to drive, should have their phones’ texting features disabled as a precaution.
