An investigation by the state comptroller's office found that $51,130
was stolen from the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society between July 1,
2009 and October 31, 2011.

agency guidelines admitted backdating paperwork after a teen's death and
provided testimony during a wrongful-death trial in 2012 that a judge
called not very credible was never disciplined.

"[The original owner] was in a kind of cult called House of David. He
believed Armageddon was coming soon so he built this place to survive
the Armageddon and live 1,000 years," explained Capt. Fontaine.
