After hours of silence, members of the Knoxville-area Gay Straight
Alliance spoke up. They took part in the National Day of Silence, a day
to focus on the bullying of some lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
people face.
It's the final round of Knox County Schools' version of American Idol.
It incorporates lessons from the county's career and technical education
classes.
Volunteers honored Betty Piper and John Yu for their many years of
service at a memorial ceremony on Friday. The Red Cross planted trees in
their honor.
